About the Image

After a long day of wedding planning, Serena and Sage took a quiet detour through a beautiful flower field to enjoy the cool evening air and a little time together before heading home. With the wildflowers swaying in the breeze and the sky turning soft shades of pink and gold, it felt like the perfect setting for today’s soft spring fashions.

Featured in this post is Sage’s dress (left), a lovely new release from Belle Epoque for the current round of Collabor88. The sweetly ruffled Iria dress comes in twelve delicate floral patterns that feel made for springtime wandering through flower fields. Sizes for six mesh body types are included; Sage is wearing it on Lara PetiteX. Be sure to stop by Collabor88 to pick up a demo.

Serena is wearing the new Sunny Bloom set by Sorumin, available now at the current round of Anthem. The top and skirt are sold as separates, making it easy to mix and match your favorite looks. The skirts are available in charming floral packs with four patterns each or in solid-color packs with eight options. The Story

By the time the sky turned soft shades of peach and lavender, Serena’s feet were aching from a full day of wedding appointments, fabric swatches, and too many opinions about napkin colors.

“I still think eucalyptus green sounds made up,” Sage said as she nudged open the gate to the flower field.

Serena laughed from somewhere behind her. “You’re Maid of Honor. You’re legally required to pretend all wedding words are important.”

“That sounds fake, too.”

The field stretched out in front of them, waves of pink and white wildflowers glowing beneath the fading sunlight. Someone had left an old bicycle leaning against the fence, its basket overflowing with dried flowers and vines, as if the entire place had been arranged for a photograph neither of them knew they were stepping into.

Sage wandered ahead first, one hand holding her dress against the soft evening breeze as she stepped carefully through the flowers. Serena followed more slowly before finally dropping down into the grass with a dramatic sigh.

“I’m exhausted,” she announced.

“You’ve said that sixteen times today.”

“And every time, it’s been true.”

Sage turned back toward her older sister, smiling despite herself. Serena sat among the flowers with a handful of pink blooms resting against her knee, her engagement ring catching the last golden light. For a moment, she didn’t look stressed, overwhelmed, or worried about seating charts and timelines. She just looked happy.

That made something ache softly in Sage’s chest.

“You know,” Sage said quietly, “when we were little, I honestly thought you were never going to get married.”

Serena looked up, offended. “Excuse me?”

“You used to cry if boys in school borrowed your pencils.”

“That was different. They never gave them back.”

Sage laughed and crossed her arms. “And then there was that phase where you swore you were going to live alone in a cottage with six dogs.”

“I still think about that life sometimes.”

“Oh, Gavin knows.”

The breeze stirred around them, carrying the scent of flowers and warm grass. Somewhere farther down the hill, birds settled noisily into the trees for the evening.

Serena plucked another flower and turned it slowly between her fingers. “What if something goes wrong?” she asked quietly.

Sage looked over at her. “Something will go wrong. That’s how weddings work.”

“That is not comforting.”

“I’m serious,” Sage said with a laugh. “Somebody’s shoes will hurt, or the flowers will show up late, or Uncle Nathan will say something embarrassing. But none of that is going to matter.”

Serena was quiet for a moment, watching the wind ripple through the field.

“I think I just want everything to feel perfect,” she admitted.

Sage softened then, stepping closer, and sat down beside Serena in the flowers. “It already is. You’re marrying someone you love. The rest is just decorations and cake.”

Serena stared out across the field quietly.

“I think,” Sage continued, “people put so much pressure on weddings to be perfect that they forget the point is finding someone you can sit beside twenty years later and still want to talk to.”

Serena smiled faintly. “That sounds suspiciously wise.”

The sky deepened toward dusk, streaked now with watercolor purples and fading gold. Fireflies began flickering low in the grass around them like tiny drifting lanterns.

Serena leaned her head against Sage’s shoulder.

“You know,” she said softly, “I’m really glad you’re my Maid of Honor.”

Sage rested her cheek lightly against Serena’s hair. “Obviously. Who else would keep you from choosing fake eucalyptus green napkins?”

Serena groaned. “You’re never letting that go, are you?”

“Not a chance.”

And for a little while longer, the two sisters stayed there among the flowers, letting the evening settle gently around them while the wedding plans, schedules, and endless lists drifted away with the fading light.
