About the Image
Featured in this post is a gorgeous new outfit from JustBECAUSE that falls squarely into the “I would absolutely wear this in real life” category. The Pepper Jeans, Top, and Long Shrug are each sold separately by mesh body type and include fully loaded texture HUDs, making it easy to create the perfect look for fall—or really, any season. All three pieces are PBR only, so you’ll need a PBR-enabled viewer to see the textures properly.
I especially love the delicate lace detailing on the Pepper Long Shrug and the way the edges fall so gracefully around Serena. It’s the perfect finishing touch for a soft, romantic autumn look, especially for an afternoon spent making wishes on falling leaves. Stop by the current round of FaMESHed to pick up a demo of the Pepper pieces and try them for yourself.

The Story
Serena hadn’t gone to the park looking for magic.
She had gone because she needed an afternoon in which nobody asked her a question. No wedding decisions, no photography deadlines, no messages that began with “Just one quick thing…” and inevitably turned into six not-so-quick things. Autumn had arrived almost overnight, painting the trees in shades of amber, copper, and crimson, and Serena decided that ignoring her phone for an hour qualified as self-care.
She wandered along the wooden bridge, listening to dry leaves skitter across the path and watching others drift lazily from the trees. Some spun in circles. Others sailed straight down as though they had somewhere important to be.
One small maple leaf floated toward her.
Without thinking, Serena reached out and caught it.
She smiled.
When she was little, her mother had told her that catching a falling leaf before it touched the ground meant you were allowed to make a wish. Serena had never questioned the rules. Childhood magic didn’t need an explanation. You caught the leaf, made the wish, and released it back to the wind.
Standing on the bridge, Serena closed her fingers gently around the stem.
“Well,” she whispered, “what am I supposed to wish for?”
She could wish for perfect weather on her wedding day. That seemed practical. She could wish for the remaining expenses to magically pay themselves, which seemed even better. She could wish that nothing went wrong, that nobody forgot anything, that every photograph turned out beautifully, and that everyone she loved arrived exactly when and where they were supposed to.
But the longer she stood there, the sillier all of those wishes seemed.
Serena looked at the leaf in her hand and thought about Gavin. She thought about her family, her friends, the wedding, and all the strange little turns her life had taken to bring her here. None of it had been perfect. Some of the best memories, in fact, had begun with something going spectacularly off-plan.
Maybe wishing for perfection was a terrible waste of a perfectly good leaf.
So Serena closed her eyes.
She wished for Sunday mornings when there was nowhere they needed to be. For Gavin laughing at something ridiculous she had done. For friends who kept showing up without needing invitations. For family dinners that ran too long, vacations with terrible directions, dogs underfoot, unfinished projects, unexpected adventures, and photographs of ordinary days that someday wouldn’t feel ordinary at all.
She wished that years from now, when the wedding was only one beautiful day among thousands, she would still recognize the life they were building together.
Then she opened her eyes.
“That’s a very big job for one little leaf,” she said.
A sudden breeze swept across the bridge, lifting her hair and tugging at the leaf between her fingers.
Serena let go.
The leaf rose instead of falling. It tumbled once, twice, then caught the wind and sailed above the railing, joining a swirl of red and gold leaves dancing over the water.
Serena watched until she couldn’t tell which one had been hers.
Her phone buzzed in her pocket.
She considered ignoring it.
Then she pulled it out and saw a message from Gavin.
Thinking about you. Dinner tonight?
Serena laughed softly.
Maybe the leaf worked fast.
Or maybe the best wishes weren’t really wishes at all.
They were simply recognizing how much of what you wanted was already there.
