On a Personal Note
Today’s post is a little early celebration of summer—and honestly, I need it now more than ever.
The past month and a half has been rough. I’ve spent most of it bedridden thanks to a gallbladder that suddenly decided to turn on me. I’d never experienced gallbladder pain before, but last month it hit so hard I actually passed out on the bathroom floor. Needless to say, that troublesome organ is getting evicted next week, and I’m crossing all my fingers for a smooth recovery and a quick return to normal life.
Bring on the sunshine, the warm weather, and much better days ahead!

The Story
There’s nothing like a long Memorial Day weekend to remind you how sweet summer can be, especially with your best friend by your side.
Serena and Ella Rose spent the golden hours of the evening poolside, soaking in the stillness that only holiday weekends seem to bring. Ella Rose perched at the pool’s edge in a sleek purple one-piece, legs swinging in the cool water as she watched Serena drift past on a ridiculously fabulous pink duck floatie—complete with pixel sunglasses and all the sass.
Serena, in her hot pink string bikini, looked perfectly at ease with her hair swept up in space buns and a confident smile playing on her lips. She paddled lazily with one hand, trailing the other in the water, the float slowly spinning in gentle circles.
“It’s a good thing Gavin hasn’t seen that new bikini,” Ella Rose said with a smirk, giving Serena a playful side-eye. “He’d have a heart attack.”
Serena grinned. “That’s kind of the point,” she teased, flicking water in her friend’s direction.
As the sun dipped lower, casting the patio in soft pink light, the fireplace crackled behind them—more for ambiance than warmth—and the scent of barbecue drifted faintly from a neighbor’s yard.
Eventually, lounging gave way to laughter and movement. “Let’s jump in,” Serena said, sliding off the float. “C’mon, no backing out now.”
Ella Rose stood beside her at the edge of the pool. “Race you.”
“Three… two… one… go!”
Serena pinched her nose and leapt, while Ella Rose flew in beside her, arms raised high in the air and laughter echoing across the patio. The floatie bobbed off to the side, forgotten for now, as the two friends plunged into a moment they’d always remember—just pure joy, splash, and the promise of summer.
