About the Images

Featured in this post is Ella Rose’s new Jocelyn dress by Belle Epoque, a beautifully tailored floor-length design that feels equally at home in a museum archive or a city street on a winter evening. Jocelyn comes in twelve color options, ranging from soft, silky pastels to dramatic black-and-gold metallics, as well as cozy dark tweeds and patterned fabrics that feel practical yet refined. It’s the kind of dress that moves effortlessly between elegance and everyday wear—perfect for an archivist on the go. Be sure to pick up a demo at the current round of Anthem to explore the full range.

Ella Rose is also wearing the stunning new Madeline skin by Glam Affair. Madeline was designed with Lelutka’s Vela head in mind, and Ella Rose wore it on Vela in a previous post. While the look was lovely, it didn’t quite feel like her. This time, she’s back in her usual Camila head, and the result feels instantly familiar and just right. Madeline adapts beautifully, highlighting her features in a way that feels natural and expressive. You can grab a demo of Madeline at the current round of The Fifty and try it on your favorite EvoX head (and don’t forget to pick up your copy of Vela from redelivery if you’re a Lelutka customer; it was a holiday gift).

Completing the look are the new Resolution Eyes by IKON, shown here in a rich green shade that perfectly complements Ella Rose’s red hair. These eyes add depth and clarity without overpowering her expression, making them a subtle but impactful detail. A demo pack of the Resolution Eyes is available at the current round of FaMESHed.

Finally, the scene itself features the Falling Icicles by Bad Unicorn: beautiful, delicate, and just a little bit dangerous. They add a wonderful winter atmosphere, but as Ella Rose discovered, it’s best not to linger beneath them for too long. You can find the Falling Icicles at the Bad Unicorn mainstore… just be sure to admire them from a safe distance. ❄️

The Story

Ella Rose adjusted the strap of her satchel as she stepped out of the client’s apartment, the familiar weight of notes, cotton gloves, and a slim folder of preliminary paperwork resting against her hip. The visit had gone well… better than well, actually. The client’s collection was exactly the kind of thing museums dreamed of: personal correspondence spanning decades, carefully kept scrapbooks, and a handful of fragile documents that hinted at larger historical moments tucked quietly into everyday lives. Ella Rose had taken careful notes, already imagining how the pieces might fit into the museum’s existing collections.

The hallway smelled faintly of old wood and cleaning solution, and the elevator ride down felt longer than usual. When the doors opened into the lobby, warmth and the unmistakable scent of fresh pastry drifted toward her from the small bakery tucked into the corner of the building. She hesitated only a moment before stopping in.

A few minutes later, she emerged with a paper cup of coffee and a croissant wrapped in parchment, the bell over the bakery door chiming softly behind her. Outside, the air was sharp and cold, the kind that made her grateful for wool coats and hot drinks. The apartment building rose above her in crisp, confident lines, an Art Deco beauty of symmetry and geometry, its decorative panels and curved archway softened now by winter’s touch. Along the roofline, long icicles hung in uneven rows, catching the light like cut glass.

Ella Rose stepped just beyond the doorway and fished her phone from her pocket as it began to ring. Balancing coffee and pastry in one hand and her phone and keys in the other, she answered, tucking the phone against her ear.

“Hi—yes, I’m just leaving now,” she said, already slipping into work mode as the familiar voice of her boss on the other end began asking questions about the collection. She glanced down the street as she spoke, mentally cataloging next steps, donor forms, and conservation concerns.

Then she heard a sound that didn’t belong.

A sharp crack cut through the quiet, followed by a brittle snap.

Ella Rose looked up instinctively. A large icicle broke free from the roof, dropping straight down and shattering on the stone near the entrance with a violent clatter. Before she could react, another followed, then another, fragments skidding across the pavement at her feet.

“Wait—hold on,” she said into the phone, heart jumping into her throat.

She jumped forward, barely managing to keep hold of her coffee as ice exploded where she had been standing moments earlier. The noise echoed off the building’s angular façade, sharp and startling, and she pressed herself against the wall across the entryway, breath coming fast.

For a moment, everything went still except for the steady drip of melting ice above her.

“I’m okay,” Ella Rose said finally, forcing a breath and a thin laugh. “Just had a very close encounter with gravity.”

She glanced up once more at the Art Deco roofline, suddenly aware of the irony. She spent her days preserving history, studying the beauty and ambition of the past, yet even the most elegant designs demanded respect.

Once the call ended, Ella Rose waited a beat longer before moving away from the entrance. Then, she cautiously headed down the sidewalk, coffee warm in her hand, croissant still intact, and a new reminder tucked neatly alongside her professional instincts: history was beautiful, but it could still bite.
